Sensory
Genesee Lake School understands the need for education behind the sensory needs of our students. This can sometimes be seen as a struggling process for the child and caregiver. Sensory needs occur when a child has difficulties receiving and responding to information from their senses. Children with sensory issues may have found it hard to cope with anything that triggers their senses, including sound, light touch, taste, or smell.

Mandt
Genesee Lake uses The Mandt System when taking a therapeutic approach to crisis. The Mandt System is a comprehensive, integrated approach to preventing, de-escalating, and if necessary, intervening when the behavior of an individual poses a threat of harm to themselves and/ or others. The philosophy of the Mandt System "Putting People First" is based on the principle that all people have the right to be treated with dignity and respect. The expectation of being treated with dignity and respect cannot be lost or taken away because of someone's behavior.
